چکیده
Ayahuasca is a hallucinogenic beverage that affects the serotonergic system and have therapeutic potential for many diseases disorders, including depression drug addiction. The objectives of this study were to evaluate toxic effects ayahuasca on rats after chronic exposure, levels monoamines, their metabolites brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) in brain. Female male treated orally 28 days with H2O (control), fluoxetine (FLX), selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor antidepressant, or (Aya) at doses 0.5X, 1X 2X ritualistic dose (7 10 animals/group). Clinical, hematological macroscopic results showed was safe rats. Behavior tests conducted one hour last treatment from Aya1 group explored open field central area less than control group, number entries compared total locomotion also significantly lower FLX group. hippocampus removed BDNF analysis remaining brain used monoamine by HPLC-FL. Serotonin higher only Aya2 female while significant reduction its metabolite 5-HIAA observed Dopamine similar among experimental groups, but DOPAC increased groups controls, especially females, DOPAC/dopamine turnover HVA, another dopamine metabolite, did not change treatments HVA/DOPAC ratio all groups. Norepinephrine detected any sample, MHPG female groups controls when expressed relation weight. mechanisms involved increase serotonin, animals should be further investigated specific areas.

Involvement of brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) on malathion induced depressive-like behavior in subacute exposure and protective effects of crocin
Objective(s): In this study the effect of crocin, a carotenoid isolated from saffron, on malathion (an organophosphate insecticide) induced depressive- like behavior in subacute exposure was investigated. Moreover the molecular mechanism of malathion induced depressive- like behavior and its decreasing effect on the level of brain derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) in rat hippocampus and cerebr...

Introduction: The present study was conducted to evaluate the effect of Chlorogenic Acid (CA) and Diazepam (DZP) on epileptic complication that induced by repetitive intra-peritoneal injections of Pentylenetetrazle (PTZ) in aged rats. Methods: Twenty-four month-old male Wistar rats (age > 12 months, 300-350 g) were divided in 4 experimental groups. Animal in control group (PTZ + Vehicle) re...

متن کاملon translation of politeness strategies in dialogues involving female characters in translations and retranslations of novels translated before and after the islamic revolution of iran and their effects on the image of women: a polysystem theory approach
abstract reception environment has considerable effects on accepting a translation. as the expectations of a target culture and its values and needs change throughout history, its criteria for accepting a translation or rejecting it will change accordingly (gentzler, 2001). the expectations of iran, as the reception environment in the present study, have changed after the islamic revolution. i...
Action of brain-derived neurotrophic factor on function and morphology of visual cortical neurons
Brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) is known to play a role in experience-dependent plasticity of the developing visual cortex. For example, BDNF acutely enhances long-term potentiation and blocks long-term depression in the visual cortex of young rats. Such acute actions of BDNF suggested to be mediated mainly through presynaptic mechanisms. A chronic application of BDNF to the visual cor...
